2/25/2021 Statement from ChurchillCSD

We want to update everyone on the plans for the last quarter of the 2020-2021 school year. The school principals, the district leadership, and the Board of Trustees have determined that the Churchill County School District will remain in our current AM/PM hybrid model through the end of this school year (June 4, 2021). We continue to welcome back our students who have been in full-time online that would like to re-enter into in-person instruction if that is something families wish to see happen. We are going to continue providing great education for our students. We are developing our summer learning opportunities to ensure the academic and social-emotional needs of our children are considered so all are prepared to return to the 2021-2022 school year. Thank you to all families and community members for the support of our children and of our staff!

Churchill County School District has received reports of additional students and/or staff members who have tested positive for COVID-19. All students and staff identified as primary exposures through contact tracing have been or will be contacted by school officials.

IMPORTANT REMINDER TO FAMILIES & STUDENTS We would like to remind all families and students that if students have a pending COVID test, it is important that they stay home until test results come back negative. Many students have been tested and returned back to school before receiving results, causing many classes to have exclusions that could have been avoided. We know that this can be inconvenient, but it is the best way to reduce the number of exposures and exclusions in the District.

Per District protocol, if you have reason to believe that your student has contracted or been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 they MUST isolate at home until they have been:

  • Symptom-free for 24 hours without medication; AND
  • No one in the household is isolating for or sick with COVID-19-like symptoms; AND
  • Either 10 days has passed since symptoms first started OR the student has had a negative COVID-19 test (confirmed by a health care provider) OR a note from a health care provider confirming the student does not have COVID-19

Please refer to the Health & Safety Measures Document for 2020-2021 for additional information about the District’s protocols.

8/31/2020: A Great First Day Back in ChurchillCSD!

Thank you today for your flexibility and patience as we began a school year like none before. We had a successful day and it was great to see students on campus again and to engage with all of our awesome learners!

A few reminders:

  • If you are calling the transportation department for any questions, please leave a message or email mitchellk@churchillcsd.com
  • LINQ Rapid Health Screener—If you were unable to log your student today, try again to make your account and complete the form tomorrow for each of your children.
  • If you were able to make an account, but unable to link your child/ren, try again to link your child using option #2 with the credentials that were emailed last week. If that was unsuccessful, please email parentinfo@churchillcsd.com for additional help.
  • Please remember to sign and return all documents that went home with students today.
  • We ask that students use school-issued Chromebooks to complete all school work, as these devices have filters to maintain security and confidentiality, which are top priorities in ChurchillCSD. 8/24/2020 Message from ChurchillCSD: Start Day Postponed to Mon., August 31

In consultation with the Churchill County Manager, the Churchill County School District administration has made the difficult decision to postpone the start of the school year until Monday, August 31, 2020 due to changing circumstances in our community and in the district, such as a significant numbers of families changing their requests for online or in person instruction which resulted in challenges to transportation department needs. The administration understands families may experience challenges with this decision. The district administrators expect to be fully ready for August 31st and will be in touch with families through the rest of this week. If you have questions, please email parentinfo@churchillcsd.com.

The district will continue the food distribution sites tomorrow, Tuesday, August 25th through Friday, August 28th as listed at the following link, which is also available on the district FB page, the district website and district reopening website to ensure families can have access to meals until we open on the 31st.
