Meet the Superintendent

My name is Derild Parsons. I began working for ChurchillCSD in February 2000 at West End Elementary School. When West End closed, I moved to Lahontan Elementary School. Then I was the Dean of Students at Churchill County High School for 3 ½ years before moving to the District Office as the Director of Special Services. I then transitioned into the role of Director of Learning & Innovation and am now superintendent.

My family moved to Yerington, Nevada when I was 4 years old. I attended school in Yerington through 6th grade, and then my family relocated to Battle Mountain in 1976. I grew up in Northern Nevada, spending summers helping my father on drill rigs. After graduating from high school, I continued to work on drill rigs doing mineral exploration in Northern Nevada and Northern California. Then I ended up in Fallon in 1990 when we came here to drill a few water wells. We ended up drilling a lot of water wells and decided to make Fallon our permanent home.

In 1994, I resumed my education and began classes at Western Nevada Community College. During this time, I met my wife, Lynne. She grew up in Fallon and is a graduate of Churchill County High School. In 1999, I graduated from the University of Nevada-Reno with a dual degree in Elementary Education and Special Education. In 2007, I earned my Master’s Degree in Education Administration.

Together me and my wife have raised our two children here in Fallon. Both children attended Churchill County Schools and are also graduates of Churchill County High School.

In any spare time I have, I like spending time with my family and friends and enjoying the beauty of the area we live in.

I am so happy to serve as your superintendent and look forward to working with all the stakeholders in our community as we learn and grow together!
